Scorpions and feet-eating fish

A brief note about the main guide on our trip to the Kinabatangan River. "Lewis" (they all seem to have easy to remember English names)was amazingly knowledgeable about the jungle and it's plants and animals. He was the sort of person who (to loosely quote a not very good Harrison Ford/Anne Heche movie from memory) if he got stranded on an island he'd be able to build a house from toothpicks in a week. On the night walk he saw a tree where a scorpion lived and using a stick managed to get it to come out. He then proceeded to pick it up and have it rest on his arm so people could see it and take pictures. Before he put it down he kissed it! It might not have been a deadly scorpion but it was still poisonous.

Speaking of animals later today I'm planning to get a fish foot bath. (Basically tiny fish come and eat the dead skin off your feet.) They just got a salon that offered it when I was leaving DC and one of my friends did it. Her feet were incredibly soft afterwards. One of the malls I visited yesterday offered it for a quite affordable price. Here's an article about a Tokyo spa that offers the service.
